I made this quirky Totoro for a GelaSkin phone cover. Enjoy!

This is the image I used for reference, it’s also my current desktop wallpaper:

I only learned rather late about the death of Alexander McQueen. While I’ve never been particularly interested in his work, preferring street fashion to couture, I do remember being mesmerized by this image when I first saw it. Even now, years later, my reaction hasn’t changed: it’s beautiful but grotesque. It’s the kind of thing I love, the mixing of cultures with a personal aesthetic. Farewell Alexander McQueen.

I favor street fashion over couture

The subject of Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lover’s is one that deserves a full rant, but I’m not really able to make up my mind about it at present. For now at least enjoy this sugary sweet image from her ad campaign.

Is it cute? Is it not cute? Is it a bit scary? These girls are dressing in the Decora style, one the street fashions of Harajuku. Decora consists of colorful clothing and accessories from head to toe, as exemplified by the girl on the right. Her friend on the left is dressed in the Koteosa, or Dark Decora style. I got the picture from this website, but you have to be a member to download other pictures from their gallery.
