New artwork in my portfolio.
“This work was inspired the Japanese folktales of ghosts (yūrei), and in particular those of vengeful spirits (onryō).
These ghosts are inevitably female, defined by their distinctive white kimono, and long tangled black hair.
Although originating in the Edo period, the “Japanese ghost” continues to remain a staple of popular culture. While contemporary horror such The Ring and The Grudge has helped to popularize the stereotype in the West.”
This work took about a month and a half to complete.
Here’s a short look at the of making this work: Siren: Linework in Progress, and Siren: Coloring in Progress.
Any comments are welcome.
